Main Goal: To increase opportunities for information shared and interaction between city officials and city residents
Details: Google Forms for Questions/Engagements; Weekly Updates Pushed Out; Mayor AMA’s (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit: Annual Town Hall – Celebrate Cleburne!: Public reporting via city dashboard
Finer Points: I believe the city should be pushing more info out to residents via social media and the city website, such as council meeting summaries, not just posting minutes as required and hoping people read them. That would ensure more people are in tune with the decisions the council makes each year. I also want to do at least one town hall a year where I give the state of the city address live in front of as many people as we can. I would do that at La Moderna field and make it a day a year to celebrate the city and all of its accomplishments and what we could do better together. This event would be called Celebrate Cleburne. I think showcasing all of the city departments and showing what was done over the previous fiscal year and what is planned will help the community be better engaged with the city while not overwhelming everyone with a lot of town halls and meetings. Combined with the strategy of pushing for staff to be more involved with the community, I believe this will create more buy-in and community engagement with the city government.
